Approaching Zhongnong Guosheng | Typical Cases of Two-Mountain Enterprises

Recently, the Calcium-Magnesium Fertilizer Branch was invited to visit Shanxi Zhongnong Guosheng Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (referred to as Zhongnong Guosheng). The group toured the newly operational production base for polypeptide and protein fertilizers located within the Qingxu Industrial Circular Economy Park. Participants viewed display boards, listened to detailed presentations, and conducted on-site observations, gaining a thorough understanding of the project’s status. Zhongnong Guosheng is a model enterprise of the “Two Mountains” philosophy in the new era. Founded in June 2017 and headquartered at the Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the company adheres to the guiding principle of “following nature’s laws and promoting ecological cycles.” It focuses on integrated technological solutions that bridge the fields of agriculture and environmental protection, effectively linking these two sectors. Zhongnong Guosheng has established a closed-loop system for renewable resources, offering comprehensive solutions for sludge resource utilization and applications of resource-based products. Through systematic approaches, it improves and restores soil health, ensures optimal replication and expression of crop genes, and comprehensively enhances the quality of agricultural products. This approach meets the diverse needs of soil, plants, animals, and humans, thereby achieving sustainable ecological development.

According to Jin Mengliang, Deputy General Manager of Zhongnong Guosheng, the company’s polypeptide protein fertilizer production base employs a relatively advanced domestic process—“alkaline hot hydrolysis + dehydration and drying + resource-based disposal”—which enables the production of two types of products: specialized polypeptide fertilizers for soil improvement and concentrated polypeptide solutions. Building on the stabilization and treatment of organic waste, this process establishes an ecological circular chain for renewable resources, seamlessly integrating environmental protection with economic development. Once operational, the base will be able to process 200,000 tons of urban renewable resources annually, producing 20,000 tons of liquid polypeptide fertilizer and over 60,000 tons of specialized polypeptide fertilizer for soil improvement, directly serving crop cultivation areas exceeding 1.5 million mu. Through afforestation, greening initiatives, ecological restoration of conservation zones, and integrated measures for the rehabilitation of coal-mining subsidence areas, the base will accelerate the construction of ecological barriers in the East Mountain and West Mountain regions. This initiative will not only enhance Taiyuan’s ecological environment and promote its economic and social development but also create employment for 1,000 people and increase incomes for 40,000 farming households. The commissioning of Zhongnong Guosheng’s polypeptide fertilizer production base in Taiyuan marks the city’s emergence as a model for organic waste management, energy conservation, emission reduction, and green development—not only within Shanxi Province but nationwide.

Senior plant protection specialists from Zhongnong Guosheng and the Group Corporation have conducted extensive field trials across China’s vast territory—spanning its north, south, east, west, and central regions—using organic active peptides and functional organic calcium proteins. The trials have demonstrated that this fertilizer can effectively address eight major soil issues: soil compaction, soil acidification, soil salinization, imbalance in soil microecology, soil toxicity, imbalanced carbon-to-nitrogen ratio in soil, nutrient imbalance in soil, and accumulation of soil-borne pathogens.
It is reported that in 2018, the company received recognition and support from the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center. In the same year, the Center issued Document No. 96 (2018) titled “2018 Agricultural Technology Cultivation Memo” to nine provinces nationwide, explicitly requiring that demonstration projects for safe production and quality enhancement of economic crops be carried out in accordance with the implementation plan for Zhongnong Guosheng—Peptide Plant Calcium Protein Fertilizer. On November 4, 2019, the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center released the “2018 Report on Trial Demonstration and Promotion of Safe Production and Quality Enhancement of Economic Crops,” which highly praised Zhongnong Guosheng’s Zhifu Tai for its ability to enhance plant disease resistance, boost growth vigor, improve crop quality, and increase overall yields and profits in agricultural production. The report also recommended that Zhifu Tai be appropriately promoted and applied in relevant planting areas.
Niu Tianliang, Senior Advisor of the Calcium-Magnesium Fertilizer Association, stated that as environmental protection policies continue to tighten, soil pollution caused by improper and excessive use of conventional chemical fertilizers is creating favorable conditions for the organic fertilizer industry. The research and development efforts of Zhongnong Guosheng in the field of ecological organic fertilizers have not only significantly improved the quality of agricultural products, ensured green, low-carbon, and circular development, and achieved ecological sustainability, but also met the growing consumer demand for green and non-toxic food. As a result, organic fertilizers are being increasingly widely adopted in agricultural production. We look forward to even more exchanges and cooperation between Zhongnong Guosheng and other partners.
