The 7th General Assembly of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association was held in Beijing.
On September 12, 2020, the 7th General Assembly of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association was held in Beijing. Attending the meeting were Wang Jiangping, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Li Shousheng, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Petrochemical Federation; Cai Ronghua, Deputy Director-General of the Industrial Development Department of the National Development and Reform Commission; Chen Kaimin, Deputy Director-General of the Raw Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Gu Zongqin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association; and more than 300 representatives from member enterprises.
In his speech, Vice Minister Wang Jiangping emphasized that China’s nitrogen fertilizer industry has made tremendous contributions to ensuring the country’s food security. As China’s grain industry undergoes transformation and adjustment, the nitrogen fertilizer industry must also undergo a corresponding transformation. To this end, he put forward three recommendations: First, adhere to the new development philosophy; second, accelerate integration with next-generation information technologies, promote the development of industrial informatization and intelligentization, enhance industry efficiency, and improve intrinsic safety; third, speed up the transformation of production methods and enterprise business models, integrate fertilizer production with service provision, and become a productive service-oriented enterprise.
Chairman Li Shousheng believes that the global economy will be fraught with uncertainty in the coming years. He hopes the industry will take new steps toward both sticking to and moving beyond the fertilizer sector, achieving significant improvements in fertilizer varieties and quality, and—above all—boldly transitioning toward the chemical industry.
The conference heard and deliberated on the work report delivered by Comrade Gu Zongqin on behalf of the 6th Council, titled “Firmly Confident, Working Together with Determination to Pool Our Strengths and Write a New Chapter in the Development of the Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry.” The work report reviewed and summarized the achievements made over the past five years in both the nitrogen fertilizer industry and the association’s work, as well as the existing challenges. It also put forward the following recommendations for the association’s work in the new term: First, take supply-side structural reform as the main thread and make every effort to promote industrial transformation and upgrading; second, use technological innovation as the driving force to continuously enhance the industry’s core competitiveness; third, orient ourselves toward green development and comprehensively fight the tough battles for safe production and pollution prevention; fourth, aim at adapting to the new demands of modern agricultural development and strive to transform existing production and business models; fifth, seize the opportunity presented by the Belt and Road Initiative to continuously deepen international exchanges and cooperation; and sixth, remain true to our original aspiration of serving the industry and focus on enhancing the association’s capacity to fulfill its duties.
The Congress elected Comrade Gu Zongqin as the Chairman of the new session of the Board of Directors, and four comrades—Zhao Xuebin, Wang Weimin, Zhang Jincheng, and Liu Xingxu—as Senior Vice Chairmen. Eighteen comrades—Fan Diancai, Yu Fuhong, Wang Zhihe, Feng Zhiwu, Ning Zhongpei, Zhang Zhaozhen, Zhang Shiqiang, Chen Shengnan, Li Xiaodong, Li Wanqing, Li Zhijian, Zhang Guorui, Zhou Jinhua, Zheng Bijun, Tan Fuyuan, Liang Runbiao, Liang Hong, and Lei Lin—were elected as Vice Chairmen. The Supervisory Committee of the 7th Board of Directors of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association was also elected, with Comrade Cao Zhanguo serving as the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee.
The conference also voted to adopt the amendments to the articles of association, adjust the membership fee standards, and change the name of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association to the China Nitrogen Fertilizer and Synthesis Gas Industry Association.
During the meeting, the first session of the 7th Council was held, during which resolutions were adopted regarding the establishment of an Advisory Committee, the designation of the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange as a specially invited Vice-Chairman unit, and the appointment of the Deputy Secretary-General and heads of the association’s administrative offices.
The conference released the results of the 2020 Corporate Credit Rating (Second Batch). Guided by the principles of simplicity and efficiency, the conference successfully concluded all its scheduled agenda items through the joint efforts of all members.
During the conference, a seminar was also held on the development of the 14th Five-Year Plan for nitrogen fertilizer and methanol industries.
