In 2020, affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Beirut explosion, China’s market demand and export trade for nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, and nitrocalcium-magnesium fertilizers significantly contracted. Safety regulations became even stricter, placing considerable pressure on the entire industry. As traditional chemical industries, nitric acid and ammonium nitrate still face numerous challenges, including an overall oversupply, an unreasonable product structure, and mounting safety and environmental protection pressures. Moreover, nitrofertilizers require greater efforts in technological innovation and market promotion. To enable the industry to achieve better development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association has scheduled the “2020 Nitric Acid and Ammonium Nitrate Industry Working Conference & Nitrocalcium-Magnesium Fertilizer Branch Working Conference” to be held from September 26 to 28 in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The conference will invite industry experts, manufacturing enterprises, technology and equipment suppliers, and other relevant organizations to participate and exchange views on topics including the production and operational status of nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, nitrocalcium-magnesium fertilizers, and related downstream industries; energy-saving and safety/environmental protection technologies; safety management requirements; market and industrial development trends; and the promotion of new fertilizers. 4. Discussion on optimization of production processes and technological improvements to production equipment for nitrocalcium-magnesium fertilizers;

All member units of the Ammonium Nitrate and Nitric Acid Branch are requested to prepare for the meeting by sharing information on enterprise development, production, and market conditions, as well as plans for the 14th Five-Year Plan. Key enterprises are asked to deliver presentations on their management practices for ammonium nitrate safety. Shaanxi Xinghua is requested to speak on the management of ammonium nitrate production, storage, transportation, and related safety measures. Henan JinKai is asked to present information on identified safety hazards during special inspections of ammonium nitrate enterprises. Tianji Group is requested to provide an analysis of the 2020 performance of China’s ammonium nitrate market. Anhui Huarta is asked to deliver a presentation on the 2020 analysis of production and market trends in China’s concentrated nitric acid industry.
