Some relevant precautions regarding magnesium nitrate for agricultural use?
Magnesium nitrate is soluble in water, ethanol, and ammonia solution. It appears as colorless crystals and is hygroscopic. At its melting point of approximately 95°C, it can ignite upon heating when exposed to oxidizing or flammable organic substances, posing a hazard and being irritating in the event of fire or explosion. Operating Precautions: When shutting down operations, ensure adequate ventilation. Operators must undergo specialized training and strictly adhere to operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter dust masks, chemical safety goggles, polyethylene protective suits, and rubber gloves. Keep away from sources of ignition and heat. Smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Stay clear of flammable materials and combustibles. Avoid generating dust. Prevent contact with reducing agents. Handle with care to avoid damaging packaging and containers. Equip the workplace with appropriate types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and emergency spill-response tools. Empty containers may still contain residual hazardous substances.
Storage precautions: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat. Packaging must be tightly sealed and moisture-proof. It should be stored separately from flammable materials and reducing agents and must not be mixed with them. The storage area should be equipped with appropriate materials for containing leaks.
Packaging methods: Plastic bags or double-layer kraft paper bags, with either fully open or center-open steel drums; ordinary wooden crates or double-layer kraft paper bags placed over the plastic bags.
